Fort Matanzas National Monument

At Fort Matanzas and Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, we seek to strengthen the parks as sites for place based learning and develop and nurture connections between youth and the parks through a continuum of engaging recreational, educational, volunteer, service, and work experiences. In the summer, we host several week-long “hands-on” nature and history summer camps at the parks for students (ages 9-11.) High school students are able to serve as camp counselors. We also host under-served groups, from Boys and Girls Club and St. Johns County Recreation Camps, on field days at the parks to explore the area’s natural and cultural resources.
