Collier-Seminole State Park features recreational camping with 105 campsites, water and electrical hook-ups, laundry facilities and three bathhouses with hot showers. A primitive backpacking site is also available via the northern trail and a remote primitive camping site on the river at “Grocery Place” is available with reservations by calling the park office at 239-394-3397. Four walking/hiking/biking trails are available but expect limited access during certain times of the year. Please call the ranger station for trail conditions. The boat-basin area features a playground, covered picnic pavilions, restroom, boat launch, canoe launch, parking, and canoe/kayak/bike rentals.
Boating: Paddle the 13.5-mile canoe trail on the Blackwater River or boat seven miles down river to Ten Thousand Islands. Guided Canoe Trips are offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings 9:30 am until 12:30 pm December through March. Guided Moonlight Canoe Trips are offered once a month, December through March. Reservations are required for all Guided Canoe Trips.
Historical Attractions: The “Blockhouse”, a two-story replica of a Seminole Wars era blockhouse made of logs and stones, serves as the park’s information center. This park also features one of the original royal palm hammocks and the last Bay City Walking Dredge used in building the historic Tamiami Trail (US 41). A designated area of the park represents life of the Seminole Indians which includes a chickee hut and a dug-out canoe display.
Stargazing events are hosted by The Friends of Collier-Seminole State Park & the Everglades Astronomical Society once per month December through March. Please call for dates and times.
Ranger-lead programing is available December through March, which includes ab Saturday Night Ranger’s Choice program starting at 7:30 PM and Sunday Morning Guided Walk in the Royal Palm Hammock starting at 11:00 AM.
