The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum’s mission is to discover, preserve, present, and keep alive the stories of our nation’s oldest port as symbolized by our working St. Augustine Lighthouse. Since maritime traditions existed historically in St. Augustine and at the Lighthouse, we include marine based activities such as fishing and kayaking in our programming, which are great experiential learning methods that give links to the past. Summer camp activities for elementary aged students also include beach explorations at Anastasia State Park, schooner boat rides, and how cast nets are made and thrown. We now also offer a middle school week-long summer camp involving charter fishing, kayaking to explore oyster farms, and net casting.
