Shamrock Park and Nature Center

Shamrock Park and Nature Center encompass some of the last remaining scrub habitat in the coastal area of Sarasota County. It includes a 1.2 mile paved multi-use trail that winds through the central portion of the park. The park trail system connects to the Venetian Waterway Trail, which further connects to the 10.6 mile Legacy Trail. This network of trails offers park visitors the opportunity to walk, bike or roller blade from Shamrock Park to downtown Venice, the historic train station, Caspersen Beach, and north to Sarasota with several parks to visit along the way. The park supports populations of Florida scrub jay and gopher tortoise and provides opportunities for environmental programs and nature study, as well as facilities for active recreation. The Nature Center includes two large meeting rooms that can be reserved (rented) for educational and training seminars, including business, organization, community and public meetings. Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources invites you to explore more than 160 parks, including diverse natural areas, unique sporting venues and safe places for people of all ages and abilities to play, learn and grow. Whether your idea of recreation is toes in the sand, cycling, running, fishing or enjoying a nature walk, our park system offers something for everyone. Our playgrounds, beaches, trails, natural areas, athletic facilities, recreation centers and water access parks support Sarasota County residents through environmental and sports tourism, health and wellness, as well as improving overall quality of life.
