Bear Creek Educational Forest

Come visit us at the Bear Creek Educational Forest! Experience the outdoors and learn about the different elements and processes of forests. Bear Creek Educational Forest is a diverse, actively managed, 492-acre tract of Lake Talquin State Forest and is located just south of Quincy, in Gadsden County, it is only minutes from Tallahassee!

Bear Creek Educational Forest offers guided programs which are free of charge, include activities for students of all ages, and are correlated to educational standards. Each program option includes a lesson and either a game or hands-on activity in the forest. An interpretive hike and souvenir craft to make and take home may also be included. Our facility includes an air-conditioned indoor classroom and an outdoor classroom, each with seating for 60 students. Our other amenities include three nature trails ranging in length, including a paved “talking tree” trail and arboretum, modern restrooms, drinking fountains, and full-time staff available for guided programs.
