Frequently Asked Questions

  • Chinsegut Conservation Center is open to the public, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (ET).
  • Public access to the surrounding Chinsegut WEA hiking trails is allowed from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset 7 days a week.

Our camp programs are $60 per week per camper.

Yes, payments are made online with a credit or debit card when registering your child for camp.

Filters on our online registration system can show which programs are open and which are waitlisted. When you register your child for a program their default status will say “Pending” until Chinsegut Conservation Center administration reviews your registration and confirms the spot is available. If the spot is available, we will update your status to “Approved” and you will be directed to submit payment and complete the registration process. If the spot is not available, we will contact you to discuss our current availability. Please note, we process registrations in the order they are received including day and time. Your prompt response will ensure a smooth registration process for all.

We are unable to accommodate specific week/program requests as they are first-come, first-serve. To increase the chance of campers being placed together, we encourage you to coordinate your registration with your family/friends and register as soon as possible. 

Our staff are subject to a thorough background screening. We require staff to pass a Level 2 background screening through the Department of Children and Family Services. 

No, your child does not need to bring money to camp.

Please send campers in play clothes and closed-toed shoes that are okay to get wet and dirty. Please pack a bagged lunch, snacks, and a water bottle for each child and be sure to send sunscreen and insect repellent. A refrigerator or microwave will not be available for camper use.

Camper personal electronics are prohibited at Chinsegut Conservation Center. We have landline and work mobile phones for emergencies only. You may contact CCC staff by phone or email during the camp week.

Chinsegut Conservation Center has programming designed to work around weather of the typical summer months here in Florida. We keep campers inside during any dangerous weather conditions.

Chinsegut Conservation Center’s Health Center is stocked with most basic over-the-counter medications, such as medication for pain relief, nausea, and stomach relief.  

We are busy year-round! The team at Chinsegut Conservation Center does everything from hosting field trips and programs to participating in local outreach events. Check out our offerings on our website: Chinsegut Conservation Center | FWC.

We have two individually accessible restrooms, along with a bottle refilling station at the Conservation Center building. Several picnic tables are located near the center and there is a large, covered pavilion with more picnic tables and benches located near the center. We also have a short, paved trail around our native plant gardens and a partially covered back patio for wildlife viewing.
