Located on Tremain Street across from Gilbert Park on Lake Dora, Grantham Point Park is sometimes referred to as "Lighthouse Park". Grantham Point Park was created from road rubble and fill to create one of Mount Dora's famous landmarks - the lighthouse. Built to represent the "Port of Mount Dora", the lighthouse has become a symbol of the city. At "Mount Dora's Favorite Spot," families can engage in all kinds of outdoor fun from fishing, and wildlife viewing, to picnics by the water.
The goal of the 4H extension programs is to provide research-based knowledge and education programs enabling people to make practical decisions to improve their quality of life. Seminole County 4H plans to develop the Project Learning Tree program for K-8th grade students and continue to utilize the Project WILD curricula. Through partnering with Seminole County's Greenways and Natural Lands as well as its public schools, students will be able to regularly engage in wildlife discovery activities.
4-H enables youth to have fun, meet new people, learn new life-skills, build self-confidence, learn responsibility, and set and achieve goals! Our members can range from age 5 to 18, and these youth learn by doing and receive an award for a project completed. The following are types of projects our members participate in: archery, small bore, outdoor skills, forestry, marine ecology. We also offer a diverse selection of day camps, so come join the fun!
Gobblers Lodge is a 3D archery range where people of all ages can come to learn the sport, and even hone their bow hunting skills. The 2.5 acre 3D course is located on a 10-acre parcel and is wheelchair accessible/ADA compliant. Gobblers Lodge focuses on providing the community with free events as well as certified archery instruction to youth of local schools, churches, and at risk groups.
Orange County Parks and Recreation is committed to preserving parks and providing recreational opportunities for all. South Econ Recreation Complex fulfills this mission by offering a multitude of youth and adult sports as well as family recreational fun. With a full fitness center and indoor gymnasium, we offer youth and adult Fitness Memberships and host a variety of sport leagues/tournaments including Badminton and Pickleball. ur youth programs include Afterschool Care/activities, Home School P.E., full day camps, summer camps which include archery and fishing programs, as well as Jr.
The mission of the YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. At Camp Winona, we fulfill this mission by engaging youth and families in programs such as swimming, paddle sports, and sailing on our beautiful Lake Winona. Other popular programs include archery, riflery, fishing, paintball, team sports, and high and low ropes course challenges including a zipline! We offer 6 one-week sessions of residential summer camp as well as 2 family camp experiences and additional youth weekend camps.
New Smyrna Beach Middle School offers a uniquely designed elective class, Outdoor Pursuits, which focuses on the outdoor lifestyle. Through this class, students learn life skills through conservation education and engaging in recreational activities they can remain active in well into their adult years. The students get a nature-connected education with physical outdoor activities, in addition to traditional PE classes. Outdoor Pursuits Class includes units on conservation, wildlife, hiking, fishing, safe boating, mosquito lagoons, archery, orienteering and much more!
In conjunction with St Johns County Parks and Recreation, the Environmental and Habitat Conservation Division is committed to educate the future leaders, decision makers, and members of society about the importance of environmental issues we face today as they relate to tomorrow. St Johns County Environmental Division specifically educates the youth about local coastal environments and conducts various educational programs including Shorebird steward days, kayak trips, after school programs, school presentations, and summer camps.
The Flagler Sportfishing Club is one of the largest fishing clubs in North Central Florida with over 500 family members and growing. The Club was founded in 1990 and is a non-profit organization. Our "Guiding Principal" is to teach fishing to beginners and to give back to the community in many forms including Kids Fishing Clinics and multiple club and public family events throughout the year. In 2019, the Club taught over 500 kids, many of whom caught their first fish ever at our clinics.
