Camp Chowenwaw County Park was purchased to conserve rapidly diminishing open space, preserve the property's upland and wetland natural communities, protect and if possible enhance the site's suitability for listed species that have used or could use the habitats, restore and interpret the unique historic resources on the site, and provide educational and recreational opportunities for the public.

Gugliotti Environmental and Conservation Services – Nature Teach is a Florida-focused organization that specializes in connecting children and families to Florida’s great outdoors through education and hands-on experiences.

Services include: On or off site Field Trips, Hands-on Programs for all Ages, Youth Camp Experiences, Family Outdoor Recreation Clinics, Environmental and Conservation Curriculum, Teacher and Youth Group Leader Training, Environmental and Conservation Events, and Fundraising Activities, Events, and Resources.

Horseshoe Lake Park

Florida Bowhunters Council, Inc.

The FBC is a non-profit organization devoted to teaching and promoting responsible Bowhunting. The FBC has a volunteer council dedicated to ensuring Bowhunting opportunities are available for future generations.

Heinrich Ecological Services

Heinrich Ecological Services offers natural history programming for diverse audiences. Their programming is based on the belief that education is the foundation of conservation. Slide presentations and workshops are designed to assist participants with improving their natural history knowledge and skills, as well as their ability to make sound conservation decisions.

Rye Preserve

Experience a slice of old Florida at the Rye Preserve! Rye Preserve is a 145-acre property located just northwest of the Lake Manatee Dam. The property features nature trails, horseback trails, picnic areas, a playground and a canoe/kayak launch.

The preserve's trail system leads visitors through four distinctive ecosystems including sand pine scrub, xeric oak scrub, oak hammocks, and the river community. A variety of interesting creatures can be seen in these areas including the rare gopher tortoise and Florida scrub-jay.

Robinson Preserve

Robinson Preserve offers visitors numerous ways to explore the coastal habitats. Scale the 40-foot tall observation tower for a view of four counties and five water bodies or check out the view from the camera in the Valentine House Visitor's Center. Bike or roller blade on 2.5 miles of paved trail, and hikers can explore more than 5 miles of shell and coastal trails. For paddlers, Robinson Preserve's 2.5 miles of blueways present a chance to navigate through mangrove tunnels, marshes, and more. The opportunities are endless.
