Filed Trip Programs
Our most popular program focuses on the history and ecology of Florida’s wetland ecosystems. Students will learn how Florida’s geological past and human impacts have shaped the incredible wetland-aquifer system we have today. Through hands-on games and wet-lab experiences students will learn about the water cycle, food webs, and more. Prepare to get wet! This program includes dip netting in EYCC’s Legacy Lake.
Bird’s EYE View is an engaging program which teaches students about adaptation by studying the incredible biology of birds. Students compare and contrast the physical and behavioral characteristics of native species. This program includes a bird behavior scavenger hunt where students hike EYCC’s trails to observe birds in their natural habitat. Students also learn about human impacts on bird populations and migration through our hands on “Great Migration Challenge”.
This program includes a 1.2-mile hike along the Hungry land Boardwalk. Students will collect data to compare the living and non-living characteristics of a pine flatwood, cypress swamp, and hardwood hammock. Students will learn the key characteristics of these habitats while observing the native flora and fauna.
