Arm Guard

An arm guard is a piece of stiff material such as leather or nylon used to protect the bow arm from the bowstring upon release. It is worn on the inside of the forearm of the bow arm. In addition, the arm guard acts a restraint, preventing a jacket or shirt sleeve from interfering with the shot.
