Camp Bayou, located in the Little Manatee River Watershed, is an environmental education and hands-on learning center dedicated to preserving a sample of Florida’s original habitats, and to promoting appreciation and understanding of our natural resources and of our local culture and history.
The Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center lies within Pinellas County’s largest natural area, Brooker Creek Preserve, and is part of Parks and Conservation Resources. The Center supports the applied management and ecological monitoring objectives of the division through educational programming and volunteerism.
The Weedon Island Preserve consists of a variety of picturesque views and activities to discover as an entire family. With over four miles of paddling trails and 6,600 feet of ADA accessible boardwalk, which includes three separate observation platforms, anyone can get away from their urban environment within minutes from St. Petersburg and Tampa. The education center, fishing pier and kayaking opportunities create a full day’s worth of activities to enjoy the Florida outdoors.
Located 7 miles north of Brooksville, Chinsegut Conservation Center covers 408 of the 850 acres comprising Chinsegut Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA) and is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The Center hosts many educational programs and hikes throughout the year. To preserve the beauty of the area, the center is open to the public only during scheduled programs or by appointment.
