Seek & Destroy Coral Ardisia

For camaraderie, fun, healthy exercise, and the satisfaction of doing something good for the environment, consider participating in this event, which is part of a series of sessions for everyone--all ages--interested in the outdoors. Learn the importance of addressing the problem of invasive plants, with a particular focus on Coral Ardisia (CA), which is currently smothering much of the understory of this beautiful park and many other areas in Florida & N. Georgia. The event involves a short (0.5m) hike during which you will learn, via hands-on work (great exercise!), how to remove CA.

Archaeology of the Civil War - International Archaeology Day 2014

October 25, 2014. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park, St. Marks, Florida Come learn about the history and culture of the panhandle region and its role in the Civil War. St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge 2014 Pollinator Art Contest

Subject Matter. Art work should highlight one or more pollinator species (i.e. hummingbirds, bats, bees, beetles, butterflies, and flies that carry pollen from one plant to another) found in Florida. http://www.fws.gov/pollinators/Index.html. Entries must be received by October 10, 2014. Judging will be done prior to Oct. 17, 2014. Winners will be notified prior to Oct. 25, 2014.

Hunting Heritage Banquet

The NWTF; Wakulla Longspurs Chapter is holding their annual banquet on August 9, 2014 at the Wildwood Country Club. Doors open at 5:01 and dinner starts at 6:30. Choices for dinner are grouper and shrimp or steak. Pre-sale tickets are $55 for single (includes dinner and annual membership in NWTF) and $100 for couples (includes 2 dinners and 2 annual memberships in NWTF) Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 more. It is a great event to get framed prints or bronzes. They also auction off youth hunts.
