Sonfishers is an outreach ministry of Calvary Chapel, Merritt Island, Florida. It was founded in 2012. According to research: “Reconnecting Children To Nature “NatureDeficit Disorder”, the lack of quality outdoor play is a serious problem in the United States”. Sonfishers provides Faith-based youth and adult recreational and competitive sport — Fishing Clubs and Archery Classes. These activities reconnect the next generation with nature and traditional outdoor activities.

The Loxahatchee River Environmental Center 'River Center' opened August 23, 2008. The beautiful aquariums trace the Loxahatchee River from its headwaters in Palm Beach County through the cypress-dominated floodplain in the Wild & Scenic segment, past the sand bar, and finally out to the coral reefs through Jupiter Inlet. Explore the history of the watershed, its majestic environmental value, the modifications and problems associated with ever-increasing human population and development, and programs and projects underway to help preserve and restore this valuable and unique system.

Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach delivered reliable electricity to the community for 16 years before the commercial operation of Big Bend Unit 4 in 1986. That year, people started seeing manatees in large numbers in the power station's discharge canal, where saltwater – taken from Tampa Bay to cool Unit 4 – flowed, clean and warm, back to the bay. When Tampa Bay reached 68 degrees or colder, the mammals would seek out this new refuge. The Manatee Viewing Center was soon born.

The mission of the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station is to promote the appreciation, conservation, and understanding of the marine ecosystem of coastal Florida through education and service. Located at the Navarre Beach Park in Santa Rosa County, the center is the focal point of marine, natural resource and watershed education for Northwest Florida K-12 students, 4-H, and the community.
