Canaveral National Seashore, part of the National Park Service, is located on the Atlantic coast of central Florida and is comprised of nearly 58,000 acres of natural barrier island, open lagoon, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and offshore waters. With 24 miles of pristine beach, it is prime habitat for many threatened and endangered species
providing nesting beaches for several thousand protected marine turtles. The Park Rangers at Canaveral offer numerous environmental and conservation related programs to the public, and in summer of 2021, they began their new Jr.

The Environmental Learning Center's (ELC) mission is to educate, inspire, and empower all people to be active stewards of the environmental and their own well-being. Since its inception, the ELC has served over 1.5 million people and provides over 530 programs annually, each designed to help people connect with, protect, and preserve local natural resources and wild spaces.
The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) inspires the joy of lifelong learning by bringing to life the sciences and regional history. The Florida Naturalist’s Center within MOSH focuses on the urban wildlife of the Northeast Florida region, along with environmental and wildlife conservation, citizen science projects, and providing hands-on experiences for guests. Our Teen Internship for the Florida Naturalist’s Center provides training in animal husbandry, research skills, and public speaking. Teens work closely with our Living Collection and the Hixon Native Plant Courtyard.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum's mission is to discover, preserve, present, and keep alive the stories of our nation's oldest port as symbolized by our working St. Augustine Lighthouse. Since maritime traditions existed historically in St. Augustine and at the Lighthouse, we include marine based activities such as fishing and kayaking in our programming, which are great experiential learning methods
that give links to the past.
As the founding camp property of the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches, Inc., Youth Camp was purchased in Barberville in 1982, and has lead the Sheriff's Youth Ranch mission to prevent delinquency and develop lawful, resilient, and productive citizens. Youth Camp boasts 200 acres and includes many water bodies on site, making it ideal for favorite outdoor activities like canoeing, fishing and hiking! The camp is available for rentals through most of the year but is occupied in the summer by youth from all over the state!
Shamrock Park and Nature Center encompass some of the last remaining scrub habitat in the coastal area of Sarasota County. It includes a 1.2 mile paved multi-use trail that winds through the central portion of the park. The park trail system connects to the Venetian Waterway Trail, which further connects to the 10.6 mile Legacy Trail. This network of trails offers park visitors the opportunity to walk, bike or roller blade from Shamrock Park to downtown Venice, the historic train station, Caspersen Beach, and north to Sarasota with several parks to visit along the way.
Gobblers Lodge is a 3D archery range where people of all ages can come to learn the sport, and even hone their bow hunting skills. The 2.5 acre 3D course is located on a 10-acre parcel and is wheelchair accessible/ADA compliant. Gobblers Lodge focuses on providing the community with free events as well as certified archery instruction to youth of local schools, churches, and at risk groups.
Cypress Pillar Healing Arts is dedicated to helping "grow a healthier you" through programs and services that support the mind, body, and spirit. We believe very strongly that connecting people to nature as well as teaching traditional outdoor activities such as archery, kayaking, fishing, environmental education, mindfulness, and outdoor survival can truly help improve health. These types of programs are a vital part of our Healing Arts Center's offerings. We provide programs at our center, online via virtual classes, and also offsite at parks and preserves.
