Bill Frederick Park

Camp Cristina YMCA

Camp Cristina is a 65 acre outdoor center which hosts day camps for rising 1st through 10th graders. The natural world provides an almost “fool-proof” place to create new memories, gain a new vocabulary of experiences and new friends to share them with. Camp Cristina is more than an outdoor experience. They build friendships and self-confidence throughout the summer that will last a lifetime. Camp provides a place where campers feel accepted, trusted, and supported, while enabling them to trust and support themselves and others.

Nature’s Classroom

Since 1969 more than 328,000 sixth grade students in Hillsborough County Public Schools have experienced Nature's Classroom, an outdoor environmental education program located on 365 acres of land along the Hillsborough River.

Mote Marine Laboratory

MOTE is a nonprofit organization. Striving to be a place “where one can learn about the sea”, dedicated to the advancement of marine and educational sciences through scientific research, education, and public outreach, leading to new discoveries, revitalization and sustainability of our oceans and greater public understanding of our marine resources.

The 660+ acre Markham Park offers a wide variety of outdoor opportunities including boating, camping, outdoor shooting range, mountain bike trails and much more.


Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

Located at the northern end of the Ten Thousand Islands on the gulf coast of Florida, the Rookery Bay Reserve represents one of the few remaining undisturbed mangrove estuaries in North America.

An amazing world exists within the 110,000 acres of pristine mangrove forest, uplands and protected waters of Rookery Bay. Where rivers and streams meet the sea, a unique habitat is formed. A myriad of wildlife, including 150 species of birds and many threatened and endangered animals, thrive in the estuarine environment and surrounding upland hammocks and scrub found within the Reserve.

Florida Gulf Coast University

Florida Gulf Coast University is committed to the environment. Their Quality Enhancement Plan Focuses on the development of ecological perspective, sense of place, and community awareness and involvement. Through University Colloquium, an upper-level interdisciplinary course that focuses on environmental sustainability, over 20,000 service-hours per academic year are dedicated to the advancement of the University’s environmental mission and to further the goals of the Quality Enhancement Plan.
