Enjoy a kayak trip and day of wildlife discovery along the Newman Branch Paddling Trail (click for trail map) out into eastern Tampa Bay. Along the way you can enjoy paddling through mangrove tunnels while watching mangrove crabs scurry up the tree trunks and listening to popping oysters. Watch as you cover the watery terrain as redfish and snook will scurry, mullet may jump, and stingrays and small sharks could be cruising the mudflats. A rolling manatee could stop by to take a breather. Spot wading birds and soaring ospreys searching for their next meal or perhaps find a roseate spoonbill perched in a mangrove. Anchor up and stretch your legs by the 50ft observation tower that overlooks the bay and paddling trail. Climb the tower for a birds-eye view of the growing and expanding Florida Conservation and Technology Center. Every day is different.
