Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is a unit of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Our mission is to protect and conserve fish, wildlife, and their habitat for future generations. Merritt Island NWR offers several visitor use areas and provides a strong interpretive and environmental education presence to inspire and instill conservation-related values through traditional use and new opportunities. Visiting school groups can participate in any of our six different curriculum-based environmental education programs. Additionally, we offer our Junior Ranger Days series in the summer, which focuses on varying conservation-themed topics including seining, fishing, birding, and more!
