The Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge vision is to serve as an outstanding showcase for ecosystem management that restores, protects and enhances a portion of the unique northern Everglades biological community. This public asset provides for the enjoyment and enhanced quality of life for present and future generations.
The refuge is a partner with the School District of Palm Beach County and is listed on their field experience free busing facilities list. The refuge offers educational programming for pre-kindergarten students through senior citizens. We offer educational programming to non-formal student groups as well. A calendar of events for public interpretative tours and talks is offered year-round.
Everglades Day Festival, the annual free family friendly festival, held on the second Saturday in February has drawn crowds (including famillies) as high as 4,500. We offer a Kids Fishing Day, held in conjuction with National Fishing and Boating Week during June. We also offer alligator and waterfowl/coot hunting including a youth waterfowl hunt in the winter season.
